The 14th annual Reading is Fun 5K will take place on Saturday, September 21, at Elm Creek Park Reserve. More than 600 community members will attend this family-friendly event to raise funds to purchase learning resources for media centers (libraries) in Osseo Area Schools.

Funds raised from this family-friendly event will support unique activities and resources for media centers in Osseo Area Schools. For example,

  • Park Center Senior High used 5K proceeds to purchase the 2023 American Library Association Youth Media Awards’ winning books so students can enjoy the best of the best despite supply chain shortages.
  • Elm Creek Elementary and Palmer Lake Elementary purchased Botzee robots. Students build robots using step-by-step instructions on the app and then program using Blockly. The resource was engaging and built a lot of excitement and motivation for coding.
  • Maple Grove Senior High purchased a Spin to Win wheel for student engagement. The wheel was used for library and book trivia during lunch periods. The students enjoyed participating in a library activity outside of the media center space.
